Baby Ashton

This is the blog of our son, Ashton. There has been so much to say and post about him, it was taking over my personal blog; therefore, he now has his own site chronicling his exploits and documenting his life for friends and family.

Oops!!

Matthew and I have just realized why no one was responding to our blog about Ashton... it's because we had it set up to where you couldn't unless you were a member. We are terribly sorry for this inconvenience and we now have the situation fixed, so please feel free to leave your comments now and just leave his dumb parents out of it :)~

We're Back!!!

We are back from the hospital and everything went just fine. The hernia on the left side has been fixed and there is not one on the right side. Ashton has been so relaxed now, except for pain every now and then. We have seen so many smiles and a lot less crying so I hope that this fixes his fussiness and straining. This picture is of him on the hospital bed before the operation. He was doing his best to crawl away. I think he knew what was coming :)

Surgery Tomorrow

I just wanted to post more pictures of Ashton. See how much he has grown!!! Tomorrow he has his surgery at 1p.m. He's not allowed to have any formula after 3a.m. and no pedialyte after 9a.m. so pray for the hungry one!!! We will come home Friday if everything goes well so I'll make a post sometime Friday or Saturday.

I just wanted to show everyone the difference in Ashton since he has been home. In the picture on the top he weighed a little under 5 lbs and he was only 17 3/4" long. In the picture on the bottom he is 10lbs and he is around 21" long. Amazing difference isn't it?

Tuesday-Thursday

Tuesday I just felt horrible, I felt like the flu was coming upon me. It was hard for me to take care of Ashton becaues of the aches and pains and such. Early Wednesday morning around 4:30a.m. Matthew took my temp. and I had a fever of 101.4. So grandmother we called. The poor lady.. she actually answered the phone after about 10 tries. She was on her way though. By the way, we are talking about Matthew's mom, I knew better than to call my mom. Anyways, she gets to our place about 6a.m. and takes my baby away to her place. After Matthew put Ashton in his mom's truck it was very hard for him to come back in and go to bed, his mom had to make him. I however was already asleep or trying to, it's very hard to sleep when you have the chills :) Anyhow, by Wednesday afternoon the fever was gone and the gurgley stomach was here. I just can't get a break can I? Well, Thursday morning comes and Ashton is back at home but only for a few minutes and then he's wisked away to the doctor. Don't worry, this appointment has been planned for awhile. He is checked out by his new doctor, which, from what I understand from Matthew and his mom, is a very good doctor. I wasn't there because of gurgle gurgle gurgle. He is a healthy 10lb boy.. that's right 10 lbs. I knew he was getting heavy!!! Anyways, I was looking at him while he slept so peacefully and I realized that even though I just saw him Tuesday night.. he had grown. He looked so different than when he left!! He really did. But anyways, I was just glad to have him back at home until he started crying at 5 and lasted until 9.. just kidding, even if he's crying I still want him home with me. I must invest in a rocking chair though. He really likes those. So there... that's my story for the day. I hope you all enjoyed. A love offering can be mailed to my home address, I take all types of currency :) except foreign.

bouncy bouncy bouncy

weeee!!! Today we had fun bouncing and watching tv. Ashton loves the lights from the tv but they only keep his attention for a few minutes. It's hard to get everything done in those few minutes that come so rare. :)

All you people out there...

How is it that we cannot hear your collective "awwwwwww's?" Where is all the cooing and baby noises? Is our audience mute? Are you unaffected by the awesome cuteness that is our son? Fear not, for your return to our good graces is near; merely click the comment button below each post and voice your proclimations of Ashton's undeniable cuteness! If you hold it all in, your heart may burst as the joy overflows within you! let off that excess joy, and in doing so, bring us some meager share of it.

You Cannot Defeat My Flaming Headbutt!

Playing with Ashton is becoming so much fun. When I hold him up, as illustrated above, he'll look at me, or past me, or out the window for a good five minutes, providing the prerequisite feeding has been completed. When he finally gets bored, he'll let his neck relax and roll foward as if saying "Okay, you can put me down now." If I am holding him against my chest, he'll headbutt me when he gets bored. Or, if he's tired, he'll force his head under my chin, and thus cuddled, fall asleep. Ahh, sensei, you cannot get past my cuddle-fu. Nor would I ever want to.

Bundle of Snow

It snowed today!!! It did not accumulate but we did get to see flurries. Here is our little bundle of joy all overed up and ready to go down to the grandparent's house to visit. He would fuss every time we would try and move his hat back up so we just left if alone and he was very happy about that. He's getting to be a big boy. He's already 9lbs. He's getting to be heavy compared to when we brought him home, of course, he has more than doubled his birth weight :)

Surgery Date

Ashton's surgery will be on Feburary 23rd at Scottish Rite Hospital. I do not know the time yet.

Wednesday, February 08, 2006

We went to the doctor today to get Ashton's hernia checked out. He took one look at it and said yep, that's a hernia and we will do surgery on it within the next two weeks. After the visit, I felt a lot better knowing that my concerns where justified by the surgeon because his pediatrician acted like it was nothing. By the way, he no longer has the same pediatrician :)

Gas Gas Gas

Well... everything is going well, I think. This adorable little monster that Matthew and I have created has been giving us a very hard time lately. The poor thing, it's not his fault though. He just needs to learn how to pass gas better than what he already does :) I thought that being who his relatives are he would have no problem. I suppose they will soon teach him how to master that art of man hood. Tomorrow we go to the doctor to get his hernia checked out and finally schedule a surgery date. Thank goodness, maybe this poor child can finally get some relief.

Here's a few images to tide you over until we're bored enough to write a real update. Enjoy!
